We are sorry to announce that due to a pharmaceutical backorder, The Drake Center is experiencing a shortage of Apoquel, a new medication recently released on the veterinary market to relieve itching in dogs with allergic skin disease.

Apoquel was placed on backorder shortly after its launch earlier this year and is expected to have very limited availability through much of 2014. According to Zoetis, the amount of medication produced for the launch—estimated to be enough for three years—sold out in just weeks, forcing the company to pull back its supply.

At The Drake Center, we are doing our best to ensure continued therapy for pets who have already started on Apoquel; however, please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee the availability of this product. Due to the shortage, we also may be unable to write new prescriptions for Apoquel at this time.

For more information about Apoquel or to schedule an appointment, please call The Drake Center at (760) 456-9556.

If you are not a client of The Drake Center and have a question about Apoquel availability, we suggest contacting your primary veterinarian for recommendations regarding continued care for your pet.
